Decorative tiles

I’m a lucky girl with awesome friends.  Two of these friends  are responsible for my dependency on cast iron cookware  as well as my Sodom and Gomorrah collectable plate (to be photographed when it can be in its rightful home with its Elvis-like friends).  Jeffrey and Michael have given me tons of gardening tips, a greenhouse worth of plants and also these amazing tiles:

Jeffrey found them in the basement of his home in Brooklyn.  I’m not sure where they go yet, but they are pretty special.

Bathroom is ready to be tiled (what!??!) and SO much yard work got done over the beautiful spring weekend we just had.  I’m about to go crazy with some bulbs and  ground cover, seeds and maybe some peas!!  We will see how that goes ….

Estate sale haul

We found a fun multi estate tag sale held in a storage unit facility a couple towns over. Grand total? $52.

Here are a couple close-ups ….

To recap …  a dresser, two lamps, a plant stand, bunch o’ records, weird peacock things and a painting for $52.

Here is a photo showing the globe in its new home, and the dresser off to the right — it will be a front door/ key drop-off/ junk drawer/ plant stand …  And our little living room is coming together, too!  Next up, shades for the front windows.

Bathroom Update

Happy Friday!  It’s been a WEEK and we Larsens are super looking forward to this weekend!   Our bathroom is slowly but surely coming along.  We got walls!  Pretty fancy, right?

Record Shelves

My husband has a lot of vinyl.  Like, a lot.  And he made some shelves in our old apartment that worked but …. I’ll just leave it at that.  And they got pretty banged up in the move, and have been a wobbly, messy, unorganized section of an otherwise very cute room for months.  But all that has changed with Chris’s new Kreg Jig and plans by the amazing Ana White.  Painted with some of the many gallons of paint we have in the basement, tags from Amazon and hand-stamped (by moi!) by category and alphabetically, the shelves are one of my new favorite things at home!  What do you think?

Spring Celebrations

Spring has FINALLY hit us here on the East Coast!  On this first sunny, warm, lovely day of the season, I thought I’d catch up a little on my postings.  As a firm believer in “all work and no play” making the Larsens a dull couple, we have been taking some time out to enjoy our friends and family and the latest holidays.

The Apples joined us for an amazing Easter feast (and since they did all the cooking, it was delicious AND easy-peaesy for me!!)  I also don’t think I ever properly showcased our amazing dining room table ….

This was a huge door that was in the basement.  Chris cut off a small section of the bottom to even it out, sanded and waxed it and added legs.  The legs ran us about $25 each, so all-in-all, we have a huge, lovely table for a total cost of less than $150 + elbow grease.

Some other photos from Easter … (my favorite eating holiday ….)

Of course, before Easter, we have CHRIS’ BIRTHDAY!  (Some people call it St. Patrick’s Day, but we at the Larsen household know better….)  Just another excuse for a fun party with some family and friends …..

Happy Spring, everyone!!
